Senior Chief McDonough hails from North Eastern Pennsylvania and enlisted in December 1990. After graduating from Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, he attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School, and Electronics Technician “A” and “C” Schools in Groton, CT.

Sea Duty assignments include: USS SAN FRANCISCO (SSN 711), DEEP SUBMERGENCE UNIT DET MYSTIC (DSRV 1), USS SALT LAKE CITY (SSN 716), and USS JEFFERSON CITY (SSN 759).

Shore Duty Assignments include: SPAWAR Systems Center, San Diego and Staff, naval Base Point Loma.

Awards include: Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy & Marine Corpos Achievement medal (6 awards), Navy Expeditionary medal, Good Conduct Medal (5 awards), National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Additionally, he is authorized to wear the Sea Service Deployment ribbon (4 awards).

Senior Chief McDonough qualified Submarine Warfare in 1992 and is entitled to wear the Enlisted Submarine Silver Dolphins and the Deep Submergence Insignia.

Senior Chief McDonough is married to the former Kimberly Hartman of Downey, CA. They reside in Otay Ranch, Chula Vista with their two dogs, Mackenzie and Riley.
