Crew Attends City Council Meeting
On September 2, the CDR and Crew Members attended a City Council meeting. The crew posed for a photo beneath
the Sid Larson mural in the City Hall lobby which depicts the history of Jefferson City. In the meeting, Mayor John Landwehr
presented Commander Richter, a native of Jefferson City, a Proclamation which honored the CDR's service.
Councilman Roy Viessman, the City's Council liaison to the USS Jefferson City Submarine Committee, also
presented a "key to the city" to CDR Richter.
Following the City's recognition of the crew, CDR Richter himself
presented a few items to Mayor Landwehr and to the City. Mayor Landwehr was pleased to accept the "scrambled eggs"
USSJC cap, and also accepted a beautiful plaque, a signed photo of the sub, and a photo collage of the sub arriving at the Bremerton, WA
shipyard to add to the city's
USSJC display case. Several Council Members expressed their appreciation to the CDR and Crew for their service to our
nation which protects our citizens and preserves our freedoms, punctuated by a standing ovation from the Mayor, City Council, and
citizens attending the meeting.
