    City Councilman Visits Sub

Our Pride Runs Deep for the USSJC

Welcome to the unofficial website dedicated to the USS Jefferson City (SSN759). This website project is the result of volunteer efforts by interested citizens of Jefferson City.

Material for this site comes from the many contributions of interested citizens of Jefferson City, members of the USS Jefferson City Submarine Committee, local Submarine Veterans and submarine veterans' organizations, as well as the officers and crew of the USS Jefferson City (SSN759).

Jefferson City has had the honor, pleasure and distinct privilege of hosting Commanding Officers and crewmembers of the USS Jefferson City several times during the past several years and we look forward to continuing that relationship for a long time to come.

We, as citizens of Jefferson City take great pride in the fact that such an outstanding submarine as the USS Jefferson City was named after our city. The relationship between the City and the USS Jefferson City's crew members is second to none among the many city-named submarines patrolling under our seas today, and their namesake cities.

"Pride Runs Deep" is an oft-quoted maxim among submariners, a saying that stands as well, for the pride of the citizens of our City in its ongoing relationship with our namesake submarine and our support for its outstanding defenders of our freedoms.

The creation of this Website is just one small example of how we can demonstrate our gratitude, respect and admiration for the continuing efforts of the crewmembers of this fighting ship that bears the name "USS Jefferson City."

Whenever we see a member of the United States Navy wearing gold or silver dolphins, we all should take the time to thank them for what they have done, are doing and will continue to do for our nation in keeping us free.

Winston Churchill's statement to the House of Commons, rings as true for our Nation's Submarine Force then and today, as it did for the Royal Airforce on that August day in 1940 when he spoke them...

"Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few!"
America sleeps better at night due to the daily sacrifices of these warriors of our Nation’s ever-vigilant, ever-ready, "Silent Service." One of them is our own USS Jefferson City.
